Dil Dosti Etc

Certainly, times have changed in Bollywood with Omkara, and this new movie is one step ahead in using abusive language and Slang.

I wouldn’t have said this, if Prakash Jha had made this movie in Bhojpuri. This is a new genre for Bollywood movies. Kasam “Murgi phele ya Anda Pehle” wale kahawat ki, koi Hero aur Villain main fark kar ke bata de. Anyway we have crossed that border much earlier where the difference line between the two is very thin.

Look at the title of the movie - it seems Mr. Manish Tiwary have stressed mainly on this “etc”. Whats does this etc referring to - If you haven’t seen the movie let me disclose the suspense (if any) - Its SEX, in plain raw language - Sex. The so called protagonist go on f***ing girls.

Apurv, is a rich guy (by birth) is definitely big time confused and sex maniac (Movie’s website acclaims this is how young men of today think and choose to live their life), dumps Yale to go to a Desi University - Delhi University. For what? Ask me… To have as much sex as possible - to sleep with 3 women in a day - a school girl, a sex worker and his best friend’s girls friend.

He certainly don’t have any Dil - love is just another four letter word for him - neither he understand Dosti, ab bach gaya Etc ie Sex - thats what he wants always.

But can we discard all these things declaring some shit of a fat bull?

Lets talk about Sanjay - an old fashioned Bihari Guy. Hesitates from sex, over-reacts when he sees his girl in bikini - a supermodel aspirant - and how this girl counter-react upon his reaction.

Though two heros are shown as friends but they represent two extremes of society, two different mind-sets. Neither its good, neither bad - Its you - to whom you associate with.

In the end - Sanjay dies. That stupid Apurv asks in the end he don’t know why Sunjay died? He should see psychiatrist.

Know a bit about Mr. Tiwari in his own words

My parents are doctors in Muzaffarpur (Bihar). I studied at Delhi University but completed my PhD from Cambridge University in 2001. From there, I went to Yale University. I have also worked with the UN in Rome. While I was studying and working, I made a couple of documentary films (for the university and the UN). I just couldn’t help but direct. This is how I express myself. I was even a part of a film society in Cambridge. I returned to Delhi and wrote a script that resulted in Dil Dosti Etc.
